KARACHI: Sacked employees of Media Times Limited held a protest outside the Karachi Press Club to press for payment of their outstanding dues by the management. The angry protesters shouted slogans against Media Times Limited that runsBusiness Plus TV, Daily Times, Aaj Kal and Zaiqa TV. Later, the employees held a press conference which was addressed by Adnan Hussain, Sameer Ayub, Ali Nawaz and Mohsin Mughal. The protesters pointed out that more then 200 employees had been sacked by Media Times without prior notice. At the time of their termination the management said they would be given their dues but after many reminders there has been no response from Media Times. When the laid off staff contacted Shehryar Taseer, Chief Executive Officer of Media Times, some months ago, he assured them all their dues would be cleared in a month or two. But the protesters pointed out no action whatsoever had been taken. In the press conference, it was revealed that many sacked employees were l left with no money at all with some of them having pulled their children out of school. |
