Gas outages schedule: Textile mill owners refuse to comply

FAISALABAD: Textile unit owners are determined to violate the gas outages schedule for factories and have vowed not to suspend operation of their factories.

Owners rejected schedule announced by the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), terming it harmful for the economy and detrimental to workers’ rights.

SNGPL has issued a notification for three days closure of gas to 450 factories in Faisalabad, beginning today. SNGPL, in its notification, pointed out that several problems in gas fields of Balochistan had resulted in a shortfall, which forced the company to resort to load management in the industries of Punjab.
