A retired former crime reported ran into money problems, and resorted to crime himself.
It was just the kind of story he used to report about.
A French former crime reporter has been arrested - for taking part in a series of armed robberies.
The broke 63-year-old retired journalist used to wear a wig, fake mustache and carry a "Clint Eastwood" revolver on his raids, reported The Local.
He had targeted five shops, bringing in almost $15,000. But earlier this week, he was arrested by officers as he hit a sixth shop in the north-western city of Blois.
He was spotted by cops who recognized from his former beat as a reporter, said the Local.
Since quitting newspapers he had apparently gone through a nasty divorce, prompting money problems.
The story was covered in his former newspaper by the robber's successor as crime reporter.
