FAISALABAD:

Gas supply to more than 350 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations of Faisalabad district will remain suspended on Thursday and Friday in a bid to cope with gas shortages, says the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

A spokesman for SNGPL claimed that the suspension was part of a weekly gas load management programme being implemented to overcome energy shortages. He asked operators of CNG filling stations not to provide gas to vehicles during the period of closure and anyone who violated the directives would see their gas connections disconnected.

The operators of CNG outlets and transporters expressed dismay and concern over the two-day closure in a week, saying there was a heavy rush of commuters in these days. Owing to the outages, transporters would not be able to run their vehicles, causing great difficulties for the travellers.

They appealed to the federal government to exempt CNG stations from the gas load management schedule.
