ROME (AFP) – A journalist working for the Italian news agency Adnkronos (AKI) who had written about links between the Pakistani military and Al-Qaeda has been found dead in Pakistan, his employer said on Tuesday.

Syed Saleem Shahzad's body was found near his car in Sarai Alamgir, some 150 kilometres (93 miles) southeast of the Pakistani capital Islamabad, AKI said, adding that a photo of the corpse was identified by the man's brother.

Saleem Shahzad wrote an investigative report published on May 27 for Asia Times Online about connections between the Al-Qaeda militant group and the Pakistani navy after an attack on a naval base in Karachi earlier this month.
