Protest: Workers rally for prisoner’s release

FAISALABAD: Hundreds of workers have staged a sit in outside the district jail, where four of their leaders have been imprisoned for the last 10 months.

Workers from several industrial units including, textile mills, spinning units, power looms and other organisations staged rallies on various streets of the city before assembling outside the district jail.

Mukhtaran Mai, Farzana Bari, Nazli Javed of the Labour Education foundation and several other prominent activists were also present on the occasion.

The workers chanted slogans in favour of Mukhtaran Mai, and said that the imprisoned leaders were unjustly locked up.

The Supreme Court will adjudicate the bail application for the prisoners on Monday, May 2.
