Gas crisis to be resolved with imports from Iran
The energy crisis will be resolved to a considerable extent following the completion of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, members of the Standing Senate Committee for Textile told the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Wednesday.
Business representatives complained that various international markets which they have earned after hectic efforts were slipping from their hands as they could not deliver the orders on time due to the energy crisis.
They further said that the textile sector has huge potential to boost the country’s export provided the government make efforts for the provision of energy to the sector as a priority.
Textile representatives further contended that outages affected all industries and disturbed the entire value-added-chain.
Gas production is about 4,000 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) while demand is 4,600 mmcfd, they added.
